Listening & Communication with Dave Gau

In a world filled with noise and distractions, the art of active listening became more valuable than ever. Whether in personal relationships, professional settings, or everyday interactions, the ability to truly listen not only enhanced communication but also fostered understanding and insight.

EO Richmond was excited to offer a 2-hour Applied Improv workshop on Thursday, April 11th, from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm. Participants learned improv-based skills in a fun, positive, and supportive environment that could be used in everyday interactions and work. Dave Gau, the CSz Richmond facilitator, led attendees in various connecting activities through group play and laughter. Beyond a typical learning event, this session was designed to help participants make meaningful connections that sharpened communication and collaboration skills.

It was way more than just "team building," though. Applied improv focused on improving the skills crucial for leaders. The business world had been taking note for years, as seen in articles from Forbes, Fast Company, Harvard Business Review, and the Washington Post. Even the scientists at CERN took part in an Applied Improvisation communication workshop! (CERN is The European Organization for Nuclear Research, an intergovernmental organization that operates the largest particle physics laboratory in the world.)

Since 1996, CSz Richmond Applied Improv training had worked with hundreds of organizations such as Bank of America, Cambia Health Solutions, Capital One, Carmax, Genworth, Girl Scouts, Chesapeake Bay Foundation, American Heart Association, VABC, Virginia Lottery, Elephant Auto Insurance, and even VDOT!
